Swapping
Text4swap.com provides three simple steps to become a Swapper (member). To register:
1) Simply, go to the top right hand corner of the Home page and click on REGISTER NOW.
2) Complete steps 1 to 3, and regard yourself a Swapper from that point onwards.
Text4Swap.com Swappers' first year within the Text4swap.com community is FREE. Entering your credit card information is optional when registering. If you enter your credit card it will NOT be charged until a year after the date of entry. Swappers who enter their credit card will be sent renewal notifications prior to the date of renewal and may cancel prior to being charged.
Joining the Text4swap.com community is free for the first year. After the first year Swappers are required to pay a $10.00 service fee. Ten percent (10%) of each Swapper's fee is donated to his/her school to preferably be used for environment development projects (GREEN Projects). The remainder of the fee enables Text4swap.com to continuously enhance the applications and services available to all Swappers.
Text4Swap.com also requires a $20.00 transaction fee to exchange books being swapped using our Secure Swap feature. This fee serves to maintain the environment and tools necessary to perform safe, smooth flowing transactions - ensuring students receive all their books swapped using Secure Swap. The fee is also used to pay the shipping cost to send each book from the Text4Swap secure location to students.
Swapping is Secure!
Text4Swap.com utilizes two forms of swapping, one of which is Secure Swapping.
Secure Swapping allows students to send their books to a Text4Swap.com secure location to be exchanged. Text4Swap.com ensures all the books involved in every Secure Swap transaction are received before swapping students' books. In the event one student does not send his/her book Text4Swap returns the other student's book for FREE.

Text4swap.com provides three simple steps to become a Swapper (member).
To register:
1) Simply, go to the top right hand corner of the Home page and click on REGISTER NOW.
2) Complete steps 1 to 3, and regard yourself a Swapper from that point onwards.
Text4Swap.com has a unique swapping application that finds swappers with whom you can exchange books that you have already used for books you need to get.
In other words, all swappers list the books they have to swap, and the books they want. After each swapper’s lists are added the swapping application performs an advance search to find swappers that:
1) Requested one or more of the books the swapper listed he/she has
AND
2) Has one or more of the books the swapper performing the search entered on his/her request list (books wanted)
After matches are identified swappers are then able to send a request to the swapper that has the match he/she is most interested in. Swappers’ interest may be affected by the condition of the books available, other swappers’ ratings, etc.
Secure Swapping - allows students to send their books to Text4Swap.com for us to make the exchange. Text4Swap.com makes sure all the books in every transaction is received before sending books to students. In the event any of the books that is to be exchanged does not arrive at our site, the swap is cancelled and the person whose book was sent to us is returned at no additional cost to that student. Each Secure Swap transaction requires a $20.00 transaction fee.
Direct Swapping - is the swap option that allows students to send their books directly to each other without having to pay a transaction fee to Text4Swap.com to facilitate the exchanges.

Swappers are allowed to list seven (7) books at a time in both their "My Books" and "My Requests" lists.
Books in both the "My Books" and "My Requests" will only be removed if the owner of the account deletes them.
To add the books you have to swap:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll down to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select ‘My Swaplists’
4) Add the books you have to swap to the ‘My Books’ list
To add the books you want to get:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll down to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select ‘My Swaplists’
4) Add the books you want to the ‘My Requests’ list
To edit the books in your lists:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll down to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select ‘My Swaplists’
4) Select the book/s you which to edit from either your ‘My Books’ list, or your ‘My Requests’
5) Click on the pencil icon to the right of the author of the book you want to edit
6) Update the book's information and click the update button to save your changes
Your text4swap.com swap search returns results based on books listed in your ‘My Books’ and ‘My Requests’ lists.
To search for the books you want:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll down to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select ‘My Swaplists’
4) Complete the 3-Step Swaplist application, of which the third step is your ‘Search Results.’
Note: If you already had books listed prior to going to your ‘Swaplist,’ and you are comfortable about the books listed, go directly to step 3.
To view the description of any book listed on the results page click on the ‘Pen and Paper’ image to the left of ISBN number of the book you are interested in.
If at the time of performing a search another Swapper has a book to swap that you listed you want, and you have a book to swap that the Swapper listed he/she wants, the search result will list an ‘Even Match.’
If at the time of performing a search another Swapper has a book to swap that you listed you want, but you do not have any of the books that Swapper listed he/she wants the search result will list the Swappers book under “No Exact Match Found.” You can then send the Swapper an offer to buy their book seeing that you do not have a book to swap with him/her.
There are different reasons you might not get an Exact Match. The first is the obvious and that is you need to ensure you have listed the books you want under the “My Requests” section of your ‘My Swaplist’ application.
Secondly, other swappers are constantly adding and swapping books on Text4swap.com. Therefore, if your search does not return an Even Match it does not mean you will never get one. Once your books are listed in the system after you carry out your search there is a great chance soon after another swapper will match evenly with you when he/she does a search and send you a request to swap.
Other swappers are constantly adding and swapping books on Text4swap.com. Therefore, if your search does not return a match immediately after you enter your books the main thing to note is listing your books is the most important part of the process. Once your books are listed in the system there is a great chance soon after another swapper will match evenly with you when he/she does a search just after adding his/her books. Also, Swappers may send you offers for book/s that are in your requests list that come up as ‘Uneven Matches’ in their search results.
All swap matches are listed under Even Swaps on the search results page. To swap your books using Secure Swap select the 'secure swap' button that is beside the swap match you want to make the secure swap request for.
Immediately after making a Secure Swap request an e-mail is sent to the owner of the book for which you initiated the swap. The swapper who receives your request upon getting notification of your interest to swap will be able to view the description of your book and then either accept or reject your request.
Any request that you send is considered to be a pending swap until the Swapper to whom the request was sent responds.
To view pending Secure Swaps:
1) Log into Text4Swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select the ‘Swap Center’ link
4) View pending swaps under the ‘Pending Swaps’ section of the page
5) The pending swap transactions labeled 
are swap requests that you initiated
6) Pending swaps labeled with transaction type 'Secure Swap' are your pending secure swap requests
To view other Swappers’ Secure Swap requests:
1) Log into Text4Swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select the ‘Swap Center’ link
4) View pending swap requests under the ‘Pending Swaps’ section of the page
5) Pending swap requests labeled 
are those initiated by other swappers
6) Pending swaps labeled with transaction type 'Secure Swap' are other swappers' pending Secure Swap requests
To accept or reject Swappers’ requests:
From your e-mail:
1) Click on the view details link which will take you to your Text4swap.com 'Swap Center'
2) Go to the 'Pending Swap' section of the 'Swap Center'
3) Click on the transaction labeled that you want to accept/deny
3) To accept the swap request click on ‘Accept’
4) To reject the swap request click on ‘Reject’
From your Text4swap.com 'Swap Center':
1) Log into your Text4swap.com account
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select 'Swap Center'
4) Go to the 'Pending Swap' section of the 'Swap Center'
5) Click on the transaction labeled that you want to accept/deny
6) To accept the swap request click on ‘Accept’

1) Log into Text4Swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select the ‘Swap Center’ link
4) View pending swap requests under the ‘Pending Swaps’ section of the page
5) Pending swap requests labeled are those initiated by other swappers
6) Pending swaps labeled with transaction type 'Direct Swap' are other swappers' pending direct swap requests

An Uneven Match is the result returned when no book-for-book match is found. Uneven Matches are listed under the ‘No Exact Match Found’ section of the search results page.
To make an offer for an ‘Uneven Match’:
1) Click on the ‘Make an Offer’ button located under the ‘Make Offer’ section of the row of the book you are interested in purchasing
2) Enter the amount of money you are offering to pay for the book
3) Click on the ‘Make Offer’ button located to the left of the entry field
Immediately after making an offer an e-mail is sent to the owner of the book you made the offer for. The swapper who receives your offer upon getting notification of your interest to purchase his/her book will be able to view the description of your book and then either accept or reject your offer.
You can view Swappers’ offers to swap by either:
a) Selecting the view details link from your swap offer e-mail notification
OR
b) Going to your messages from your Text4swap.com account. To access your messages:
i) Log into your Text4swap.com account
ii) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
iii) Select ‘My Messages’ to view if there are any swap offers and the details of the
requests.
Membership and Account
Text4swap.com provides three simple steps to become a Swapper (member). To register:
1) Simply, go to the top right hand corner of the Home page and click on REGISTER NOW.
2) Complete steps 1 to 3, and regard yourself a Swapper from that point onwards.
Your credit card will NOT be charged when you register for a Text4swap account. Text4swap.com Swappers' first year is FREE. Each Swapper's credit card will be charged at the beginning of the second year of service and every year after if the Swapper does not cancel his/her account.
Various renewal notifications will be sent to each Swapper prior to their card being charged every year.
Text4swap.com requests Swappers’ address information under the ‘Profile Information’ section of registration. Swappers’ address information is intended to be used for security purposes in the event we need to provide Swappers with secured information and/or make changes to a Swapper’s account per his/her request. Swappers’ address, contact, and all other information provided to Text4swap.com will be kept confidential and at no time be distributed, or made available to any entity outside if Text4swap.com.
Text4swap.com is open to students of every college who wish to join the swapping community. Students across the globe share a common need to find cheap textbooks. So, if your school is not currently listed under the School Information when registering please select ‘Other (Unlisted)’ and enter your school’s name and campus.
After entering your school will be notified ad make sure to add all its major details to our database.
Original registration for Text4swap.com membership is FREE and lasts for one (1) year. After the first year membership will last for one (1) year from the date of renewal. The date of renewal is the date a valid credit card payment of $10 is processed by Text4swap.com.
The credit card listed under each Swapper’s ‘Billing Information’ is the card that will be charged once a year. Hence, if the credit card listed for any Swapper is expired, or doesn’t have sufficient funds to complete the $10.00 payment on the date of renewal as mentioned in the renewal notification, the start of that Swapper’s one (1) year membership will be delayed to whichever date he/she manually renews his/her account.
If a Swapper’s renewal fails due to not having a valid credit card on file (i.e. a card which is not expired and has sufficient funds to make the Text4swap.com $10 service fee payment), and/or if the swapper had previously cancelled his/her Text4swap.com membership he/she can manually renew his/her account by taking the following steps:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Status’ section of the My Account page
3) Once the account is inactive the following message will be displayed under ‘Account Status:’
‘Your account is past due (please renew your account today)’
4) Click on ‘please renew your account today’ to renew your account manually
Swappers can inactivate their account by cancelling their membership. The account of Swappers who choose to cancel their membership will NOT be deleted, but inactivated. Therefore, Swappers who cancel their account will still be able to log into their Text4swap.com account to view the information that was stored prior to cancellation, but he/she will not be able to list any books while the account remains inactive. If in the future a Swapper wishes to reactive his/her account he/she can do so by manually renewing their membership.
At Text4swap.com we strive to give the best service possible. However, we are aware that there are many circumstances and/or choices which may lead to a Swapper’s need or want to cancel his/her account. Hence, we make it very easy for Swappers to cancel their membership, but if any Swapper chooses ‘Cancel Membership’ the account will be inactivated and NOT deleted. Therefore, Swappers who cancel their account will still be able to log into their Text4swap.com account to view the information stored prior to cancellation, but they will not be able to list any books while the account remains inactive. If in the future a Swapper wishes to reactive his/her account he/she can do so by manually renewing their membership.
To cancel membership:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Status’ section of the My Account page
3) Click on ‘Cancel Membership’ and follow the prompts
To create your account you must register to become a Swapper on Text4swap.com. To register:
1) Simply, go to the top right hand corner of the Home page and click on REGISTER NOW.
2) Complete steps 1 to 3 to create a Swapper account.
To access your account:
1) Go to the SIGN IN section located at the top right hand corner of the Home page
2) Enter your username and password in the fields provided
3) Click Login
Your username is the primary e-mail address entered when you originally registered to become a Swapper.
No. The e-mail address you entered when you first registered to become a Swapper is permanent.
Your mailing address, email address, and phone number can be updated by selecting the Profile Information link located under the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page.
To update your profile information:
1) Log into your account
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of the ‘My Account’ page
3) Click on Profile Information
4) Update your information
5) Click the Update button located at the bottom of the page
The name of your school, campus, school address, your major, and your expected graduation date can be updated by selecting the ‘School Information’ link located under the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page.
To update your school information:
1) Log into your account
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of the ‘My Account’ page
3) Click on School Information
4) Update your information
5) Click the Update button located at the bottom of the page
To update your billing information:
1) Log into your account
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of the ‘My Account’ page
3) Click on Billing Information
4) Update your information
5) Click the Update button located at the bottom of the page
To retrieve your password:
1) Go to the top right hand corner of the Home page and click on ‘Forgot password? click here.’
2) Enter the e-mail address which you use to login.
3) Click submit and go to your e-mail to retrieve your password.
Any swap request you send or receive is considered to be a pending swap until the Swapper to whom the request was sent responds.
To view pending swaps:
1) Log into Text4Swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select the ‘Swap History’ link
4) View pending swaps under the ‘Pending Swaps’ section of the page
5) The icon under In/Out indicates an incoming request if the arrow points to the left, and an outgoing request if the arrow points to the right.
Any offer you send or receive is considered to be a pending offer.
To view pending offers:
1) Log into Text4Swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select the ‘Swap History’ link
4) View pending offers under the ‘Pending Offers’ section of the page
5) The icon under In/Out indicates an incoming offer if the arrow points to the left, and an outgoing offer if the arrow points to the right.
Text4swap.com allows all swappers to view a detailed history of all their swaps and offer transactions.
To view completed swaps and offers:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of your ‘My Account’ page
3) Select the ‘Swap History’ link
4) View previous swaps under the ‘Completed Swaps’ section of the page
All members of Text4Swap.com are bound to specific rules and policies. All these rules and policies can be viewed in the Terms and Conditions.
Ratings and Feedback
In an attempt to ensure all Swappers have a great experience using Text4swap.com we have a rating system to allow each Swapper to give feedback on Swappers with whom they exchange or purchase books from.
We advise all Swappers to view other Swappers' ratings prior to swapping or making an offer to purchase books.
To view a Swapper’s rating:
1) Search for your books
2) From your search results screen look to the right of the book/s you are interested in to see the 5-Star rating of the Swapper who has the book
3) For more details including other members comments of the Swapper, click on the Swapper’s name
Swappers' ratings can also be viewed by clicking on any Swapper's name from your 'My Messages' or your 'My Swap History' page.
To rate Swappers :
1) Login to Text4swap.com
2) Scroll to the Account Information section of your My Account page
3) Click on ‘My Swap History’
4) Scroll to the ‘Feedback’ section of the ‘My Swap History’ page
5) If there are pending swap feedbacks make sure to properly review the book and Swapper of each one before attempting to rate each swapper. Doing this avoids giving a bad or good feedback to the wrong Swapper.
6) Rate each swap by clicking on one of the 5-Stars, 1-Star being the lowest rating and 5-Stars being the highest rating.
7) After entering the ‘Star’ rating you will be given the option to enter a comment that you can use to tell why you gave the rating that you did.
Per our Terms and Conditions we are allowed to show all our swappers' rating information. The Good Swapper/ Bad Swapper report is our way of sending a clear message that we are very protective of the swappers in our community and will not tolerate misuse of our service.
Payments
Membership renewal is automatic if the account is not cancelled before the renewal date posted under the 'Account Status' section of the 'My Account' page.
If a Swapper’s renewal fails due to not having a valid credit card (a card which is not expired and has sufficient funds to make the Text4swap.com $10 service fee payment) listed under his/her ‘Billing Information,’ and/or if the swapper had previously cancelled his/her Text4swap.com membership he/she can manually renew his/her account by taking the following steps:
1) Log into Text4swap.com
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Status’ section of the My Account page
3) Once the account is inactive the following message will be displayed under ‘Account Status:’
‘Your account is past due (please renew your account today)’
4) Click on ‘please renew your account today’ to renew your account manually
The only medium of payment Text4Swap.com recommends for offers is PayPal. For more details see Payment Policies under the Terms and Conditions.
To pay the secure swap transaction fee go to your 'Swap Center' and click accept/pay for the secure swap transaction you want Text4Swap to coordinate the swap for. When prompted for your credit card information, please enter it.
NOTE: If the other swapper does not accept the request or send his/her book within 7 days from the time he/she pays his/her transaction fee the transaction will be cancelled and your money refunded automatically.
Text4Swap.com does not store any of our members' credit card information. After registration you can only change your credit card when you manually renew your membership. Account membership is automatic if members do not cancel their account before the date of renewal posted under the 'Account Status' section of their 'My Account' page, or if the card that was used to register their account is expired, or do not have sufficient funds on the date of renewal.
If you need to change the credit card on file because your card will not have sufficient funds on the date of renewal, you can cancel your account before the date of renewal and then manually renew your account.
To update your billing information:
1) Log into your account
2) Scroll to the ‘Account Information’ section of the ‘My Account’ page
3) Click on 'Billing Information'
4) Update your information
5) Click the Update button located at the bottom of the page
Shipping
Shipping payment for Direct Swaps
You are responsible to pay for all the books you are sending when swapping directly between other swappers. Other swappers in turn will pay for the books they are sending to you.
Shipping payment for Secure Swaps
You are responsible for paying to ship your books to the Text4Swap.com location specified by Text4Swap.com when swapping your books securely. Text4Swap.com will pay the shipping cost to ship books from our location to the respective swappers.
NOTE: Certain exceptions apply to the shipping payment policy specified for Secure Swaps. Please see the 'Secure Swap Shipping Policies' as stated in Text4Swap's Terms and Conditions Agreement.
NOTE: Before accepting any offer, make sure to factor in the shipment cost.
To get the shipping address of any swapper from his/her profile page which can be accessed by clicking on the swapper’s name.
Method of Shipment for Direct Swaps
All swappers have a “Shipping Preference” listed under their “My Account.”
Text4Swap.com tries to link you with swappers who have your shipping preference, making shipment fees more balanced for all swappers. To view the shipping preference of any swapper you are trying to finalize a swap with or shipping books to click on his/her name from within your 'Swap Center', and click on 'Contact Swapper.'
If any swapper’s shipping preference is more expensive than the one you have selected for them to use when sending books to you, you can e-mail the swapper to agree on some other method of shipment.
Method of Shipment for Secure Swaps
You are to ship your books to the Text4Swap.com location using the method specified in the secure swap shipment instructions e-mail that is sent to swappers upon finalizing each secure swap transaction.
After a swap is finalized you have 4 days to ship all the books specified in the transaction.

After an offer is finalized Text4Swap.com recommends all payments be received through Paypal before you ship the books.
When payment is received you are to send the books as follows:
1) If payment is received within 4 days of the offer finalization, you are to send the books by day 4 following the date of finalization
2) If the payment is received after day 4 following the offer finalization, you are required to send the book immediately
NOTE: The offer finalization date is the date posted on the confirmation message sent to you after you accept any offer.

Any book you are sending is your property until it is delivered to the swapper you are sending the book to. Thus, Text4Swap recommends you insure all the books you are sending, so that in the event they are lost in transit you can make a claim to have the value of the book refunded to you by the courier you sent the book with.
According to Text4swap’s Terms and Conditions, Text4Swap does not guarantee or imply in any way the insurance or protection of any of the books sent per the agreements accepted by all members of our website. For more details see the Shipping Policy under the Terms and Conditions.
If you do not receive any of the books you are suppose to get within 13 days of any swap or offer being finalized you have the right to:
1) In the event of a swap, request that your book be returned to you. After 13 days the swapper you sent your book to is obligated to, according to Text4Swap’s Terms and Conditions, send your book back to you without any objections.
2) In the event of an offer, request that your money be refunded to you. After 13 days the swapper you paid for any book, according to Text4Swap’s Terms and Conditions, is obligated to refund your money without any objections.
A negative feedback is also to be left for the profile rating of any member who fails to send books they are required to send within 13 days of an offer or swap being finalized.
Text4swap.com is not responsible for any member failing to send any book they are to ship. However, we will attempt to resolve any issues that arise due to such issues regarding shipping by serving as a mediator between the involved parties.
